Wyoming August 2010

Photos from our trip to Wyoming in August 2010
My brother got married in the Big Horn Mountains of WY. Afterward, Tiffany and I traveled to Yellowstone National Park and camped for a few days. It was a 2,561 mile road trip.
I shot almost all of the following photographs with my Nikon D90 and Nikon 24mm f/2.8 lens. I've found it to be a very versatile combination that takes nice photos.
I've marked the three I took with my Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 and one with my Nikon 50mm f/1.8.

It was weird to pass over this mountain range and see such starkly different landscapes.

This hot spring was on the side of a mountain accessed by the "Seven Mile Hole" trail in the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. The entire side of this mountain was loose rock and it was covered with hot springs and steam vents. It was a tough hike but well worth the effort.

We spent two days in Yellowstone and I just wanted to see a bear. As we were driving out of the park, about twenty minutes from the exit, we came across a bunch of people stopped on the road. It turns out there was a bear trying to eat an elk carcass in the river but all the people were scaring it. The bear was hiding in the trees to the left of the carcass. I could see its nose and forehead through my telephoto lens. Tiffany thinks this counts as seeing a bear but I don't think so.
