As ammunition supplies continue to dwindle and prices climb, .22LR firearms are becoming more important than ever. The ammo remains relatively inexpensive, the guns are great for teaching and practice, and they are just fun to shoot. The only guns I've shot in months are my .22's and .22 WMR revolver; I'm saving my other ammo. I keep at least 1000 rounds of CCI Mini-Mags and 100 rounds of .22 WMR ammo around as well. Recently I wanted to add a .22LR rifle to my collection. I wasn't really concerned with tack-driving accuracy. I wanted something fun and cheap to shoot that my wife could use to sharpen her rifle skills. Nothing really turned me on until I saw a GSG-5 carbine at a local gun store. It certainly looked cool but I was not familiar with the name and it's not exactly cheap so I did so online research before buying. Most of the reviews I encountered were favorable as long as two things were kept in mind:
    • This gun is not made to go into battle. It's not as well constructed as a real HK MP5.
    • While decently accurate, it probably won't win a lot of bullseye competitions.

With that in mind I purchased a specimen to find out for myself how good it was. It didn't hurt that a lot of cool accessories are available for this gun either; it just seemed fun to own. I'll tell you want I think of the gun and the accessories I've gotten so far. Enjoy!
